Militant initiatives regarding the sharpening problems

As each day passes and as the “tide” of euphoric propaganda, which the government has cultivated in a methodical way since the day after the elections, slowly retreats, the real problems of the workers are coming to the fore. These are problems that have not been blunted, but in many cases are worsening.

Now, it is becoming clear to more people that changes in government are not enough to change the lives of the workers, the unemployed, the self-employed and the pensioners. The day after the elections, the employers are still here, as they were before the elections and continue to have the same unwavering stance against the workers and their demands.

The EU is still here together with all its reactionary treaties, beginning with its founding treat, Maastricht. All the anti-people laws that were passed in recent years in the name of dealing with the crisis are still here. New anti-people measures are on the way, which are being negotiated over by the new government of the “left” and the EU. Among these are: a new increase of the tax levels on mass consumption products, privatizations of ports and airports, the worsening of the retirement conditions of the workers, cuts to social benefits etc.

The KKE notes that the workers must answer the sharpening problems with a militant stance. And already, as will be apparent below, the communists are playing a leading role in the struggle so that the labour-people’s movement can regroup and fight against the anti-people measures, for the restoration of the people’s lost income, in a line of rupture with the EU and capital.

The Students’ Struggle Front (MAS) in March carried out many mobilizations in various Greek cities, with the demand for public and free canteens, accommodation, transport, books, stationery, as well as the construction of new halls of residence by the government, rent allowance, the return of the 50% of the budgets of the universities and technical institutes that were cut in recent years. The entire reactionary legislative framework of the EU for universities must be abolished.

The hiring of teachers, permanent educational staff and administrative personnel. Unified Higher Education that will be exclusively public and free.  Science and research must be at the service of the people’s needs and not the profits of the monopolies. The degree should be the only prerequisite for work.

15/3/2015       A militant and decisive message for the continuation and intensification of the struggles against the political line of the EU, which is supported by the new government, was sent by the small and medium farmers. There was mass participation in the 105th anniversary of the uprising of the tenant farmers in Kileler. The mobilization was organized by the National Coordination Committee of the farmers' road blocks, at the place where the uprising took place. The All-farmers' Militant Rally (PASY) in its statement noted that the government might have changed, but all the anti- farmer and anti-people policies continue with the same intensity. These are policies that inevitably lead to the impoverishment and the driving medium-sized farmers.
12/3/2015    The Unified Federation of Farmers' Associations of Karditsa, which participates in PASY, carried out mass mobilizations at the local tax offices. The farmers protested about the heavy tax offensive at their expense and promoted their demands: a minimum tax threshold of 20,000 euros for a farmers' family, so that this year the farmers do not pay 13% tax from the first euro, so that rebates from subsidies are not seized due to debts and for the tax rebate on petrol in 2013 and 2014 to be returned.
