Dear comrades,

We, the Communist Party, Turkey (KP), would like to send our comradely best wishes to the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in advance of the forthcoming elections of January 25.

Since 2012 there have been many protracted discussions on the rise of the so-called radical left in Greece. The KP explains the rise of the SYRIZA with the rise of left-wing populism in the face of the capitalist crisis and regards this party as a social democratic party that tries to take an active part in the restoration of the bourgeois political system in Greece around a new bipolar structure by filling the gap developing out of the PASOK’s (and other smaller social democratic parties’) dissolution. We know that sugarcoated social democratic programs and reformism are the hobbyhorse and the final destination of those who reject the vanguard role of the proletariat and the revolutionary transition from capitalism to socialism. With its “diglossia” spreading false hopes to the working people, pro-EU rhetoric, unprincipled stance vis-à-vis the US imperialism and NATO the SYRIZA is a textbook example of this.

The Communist Party, Turkey believes that no matter who is to occupy the Megaro Maximou and which political party is to hold the majority in the parliament, the day after the elections the Greek people’s suffering is going to continue, new memorandum agreements are going to get signed, new barbaric measures favouring the capitalist class are going to be taken. This is for sure. Because these anti-popular policies are deeply rooted in the capitalist-imperialist system and a change in government does not mean the overthrow of capitalism and cannot produce a change in the very nature of this corrupt system. That is why on the other day of the elections the Greek people needs a strong KKE in the parliament as well as in the factories and the working places, at the universities and in the working class neighbourhoods.

Today with its struggle the KKE practically proves the international communist movement that without altering their principles and deviating from Marxism-Leninism communist parties can organise the working class, gain popular support and play their vanguard role in the struggle against capitalist-imperialist system; and the fact that the working class led by a vanguard party has the potential to shake the pillars of the entire system.

Capitalism is doomed and the forces of history sweep it off the stage. We have no doubt about your determination to give a decisive blow to this corrupt system in Greece through mobilizing the working class and popular strata around the goal of seizing political power. With your glorious past, unrivalled experience and absolute determination you are more than capable of achieving this goal.

The Communist Party, Turkey expresses once again its solidarity with the Communist Party of Greece.

The KKE’s struggle is also our struggle.
