The KKE denounces the banning of the CP Kazakhstan

The KKE denounces the recent banning of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan by the authorities of Kazakhstan, which are utilizing a court decision and the pretext that it does not have the required number of members (38,000 and not the required 40,000),

In recent years, the activity of the CP of Kazakhstan has often been targeted by the authorities of Kazakhstan, which have imposed similar temporary decisions to suspend its activity, for example, when it expressed its support for the strike of the oil industry workers in the town of Zhanaozen, which was violently and bloodily repressed by the authorities, and also when it participated in an alliance of opposition organizations in 2011-2012.

This new decision, which now “once and for all” bans the activity of the CP of Kazakhstan, aims to impede the political activity of communists, their participation in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, in conditions indeed when the capitalist economic crisis is sharpening in Kazakhstan and it is expected that the offensive against the workers’-people’s rights will further intensify. It is no accident that this specific anti-communist decision comes at the same time as the approval of a new law “on trade unions”, which imposes more suffocating controls on the trade unions by the employers and authorities, while prosecutions have become the order of the day for participation in “illegal strikes”, “illegal demonstrations” and the “creation of unregistered trade unions and parties”.

The KKE expresses its solidarity with the communists of Kazakhstan, denounces the new anti-democratic and anti-communist downward spiral of the Kazakh authorities and demands the cancellation of the ban against the CP of Kazakhstan.
