The fascists must be condemned

Trade unions and organizations from all over Attica, after the call of the Metalworkers’ Union of Attica and the Greek Shipbuilding Industry, held a mass mobilization on Monday 20/4 against the activity of the Nazi and criminal “Golden Dawn” party and demanded that it be convicted. The mobilization took place on the day the trial of Golden Dawn officials began. Dozens of trade unions and organizations that are rallied in the All-workers’ Militant Front (PAME) responded to the call.

69 officials of fascist Golden Dawn are the defendants in the trial, charged with the murders of Greeks and foreigners, attacks on cadres of the KKE and PAME, attacks against immigrants and other criminal acts. The leader of Golden Dawn and a large number of its MPs are amongst the defendants.

The trial which began on the 20/4 will continue on 7/5.

The Press Office of the CC of the KKE noted in its statement on the trial of Golden Dawn: “The trial of the officials and members must end with the conviction of the murderers of Pavlos Fissas and their accomplices, of those who participated in the murderous attacks against members of the KKE in Perama, as well as against the Egyptian fishermen.

Its leadership is responsible for all these crimes, and dozens of others, as Golden Dawn is a criminal organization precisely because it is Nazi as regards both its structure and its organization. It pushes and leads it members into committing crimes against immigrants, workers, trade unionists, anti-fascists, communists.

It showed its repulsive, criminal face today as well, when, shortly before the beginning of the trial, it attacked and beat up young people, who are witnesses for the prosecution and friends of Pavlos Fissas. Fascism, Nazism, must be condemned not only in the court but by the Greek people themselves. The labour-people’s movement can contribute to this by isolating the criminal and Nazi Golden Dawn party and strengthening its activity against the system of exploitation that creates and nourishes Nazism.”
