On June 30-July 1 2017, FIX park in Athens hosted for the 17th consecutive year the political-cultural events of the Attica Party Organization of the KKE for Greek, immigrant and refugee workers.
During the events political discussions were held, as well as musical and theatrical performances, while a children's area was organized with multifaceted activities.
Thodoris Chionis, member of the PB of the CC of the KKE, spoke at the main political rally and amongst other things called for the intensification of the joint struggle "against the exploitation that is becoming increasingly brutal, against the intimidation in the workplaces, the maintenance and increase of the privileges of the few, of the masters of the wealth, who seize it from the work of the many, of all the workers, local and foreign, with the support of their governments.”
As T. Chionis stated, refugee and immigrant workers "have nothing to divide us. We are united in our right to live a better life, in a new society in Greece and your countries, sending the system of exploitation , poverty and imperialist wars, capitalism to the dustbin of history", addressing the immigrants, he noted."The system that drove you from your countries to Greece, as well as to other countries, cannot safeguard a decent life, work with rights, for Greeks and foreigners." Calling on them to join forces with the KKE, he noted that "the KKE defends the position and interests of the immigrants and their children who work and live in Greece and defends the needs of the refugees with the same consistency that it struggles for the just cause of the Greek workers. Because only the KKE struggles to root out the evil that impedes the peoples from living with decency and security and becoming the masters in their own country. Because only the KKE connects the dealing with the consequences of the immigrant-refugee issue with dealing with its root causes, i.e. through the ending of the imperialist wars and the abolition of exploitation."
19 immigrant communities participated in the events from Ethiopia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Moldova, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Sierra Leone, Sudan. Sri Lanka, Tanzania.
The cultural programme also included dance performances by the Russian association "Berioska", from Sri Lanka and from the group of the Greek-Moldova Friendship Society "Moldava".In addition, the Greek Centre of Folklore Studies gave a performance entitled "from the Danube to Evros", while the music group of the Sectoral Organization of Western Athens of the KKE performed a musical-theatrical production. Both evenings ended with traditional Greek music.
