In a statement on the meeting between K. Mitsotakis and A. Blinken, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE stressed the following:
“Against the background of the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state, the tangible dangers of a generalization of the conflict throughout the Middle East, the massacre in Ukraine and NATO’s arrangements regarding Greece–Türkiye relations, the Mitsotakis–Blinken meeting aims at deepening Greece’s involvement in the dangerous US-NATO plans and interventions in the region.
Apparently, part of these dangerous plans is also the arms race in Greece and Türkiye, which has nothing to do with the country’s defence, as is amply demonstrated these days with the dispatch of another frigate to the eye of the storm, i.e. the Red Sea, which is thousands of kilometres away from the country’s borders. The Greek people will be called upon to pay dearly for these armaments, under the responsibility of the ND government and the other parties that voted for the so-called defence spending.
Therefore, the statements about Greece–USA bilateral relations being at their best, actually mean that the dangers to the people and the sovereign rights of our country are greater than ever.
Now it is necessary to strengthen our people’s vigilance and opposition to these plans, to strengthen the struggle for the return home of the armed forces that are deployedoutside the country’s borders, for the termination of missions abroad, for the closure of US-NATO bases, for Greek territory to stop being used as a launching padfor wars against other peoples.”
