In a statement, the EU parliamentary group of the KKE denounced the anticommunist hysteria that once again prevailed in the EU parliament, on the occasion of the discussion on the request being discussed in the Russian courts to ban the “MEMORIAL society”, which was founded by the notorious anti-soviet Sakharov and is supported and funded by the EU, USA and NATO. The “MEMORIAL society” functions as a centre for the slandering of the Soviet Union and the unprecedented achievements of socialism. It functions as an instrument of the capitalist system to manipulate the workers. As it notes in its statement:
“The KKE denounces the provocative joint motion that was passed with the votes of the People’s Party, the Social-democrats, the Liberals, the Conservative and Reformists, the Greens and the “Five Star Movement” of B. Grillo. This motion was co-signed by MEPs of GUE/NGL from the “Left Front” of France (in which the PCF participates), the German “Die Linke” and the “Left Alliance of Finland”. The GUE/NGL group, which is guided by the Party of the European Left (PEL) and its parties, especially the German “Die Linke” and SYRIZA, bears serious responsibilities as it also tabled an unacceptable motion that defends this anticommunist centre, labeling it an “organization for the defense of human rights”. The anticommunism of the EU, the plutocracy and its political staff will fail.”
