Speaking at a conference organized by the Central Council of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) to mark the International Day Against Drugs Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, stated that the KKE and the KNE are engaged in a continuous constant struggle against all forms of addiction, rejecting both drug use and policies that foster tolerance toward the phenomenon.

He stressed that addiction is linked to the social and economic conditions created by the current system and argued that tackling it effectively requires strengthening prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and social reintegration.

At the same time, he criticized “harm reduction” policies and changes to public rehabilitation facilities, arguing that they undermine the provision of comprehensive care for people with addictions.

He also called on young people to reject drugs and all forms of addiction, to assert their rights through collective action, and to join forces with the KKE in the struggle for a society free from drugs and exploitation.
