As announced, the 22nd Congress of the KKE will be held from 29 to 31 January, 2026, under the theme: “A powerful KKE, steadfast in every trial, ready to answer history’s call, for socialism!”.
From mid-December until today, conferences were held by the Regional Organizations of the KKE, and specifically by the Party Organizations of Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, Western Macedonia, Thessaly, Western Greece, Peloponnese, Epirus - Corfu - Lefkada, Central Greece - Euboea, Crete, the North and South Aegean, the Organizations abroad, as well as the Party Organization of Attica, the largest Organization of the Party.
Through these conferences, the Party completed a long, organized and substantive pre-congress party process was at all levels. This included discussion of the Central Committee’s Theses, rich reflection on developments in Greece and internationally, examination of the Party’s intervention, and the election of new guiding organs for the Organizations, Regional Secretaries, and delegates to the Congress.
It should be noted that the KKE organizations distributed 90,000 copies of the Theses and held dozens of meetings and events with thousands of workers, farmers, self-employed, and young people in schools and universities, in working-class neighbourhoods and elsewhere. These gatherings facilitated broad and public discussion of the Theses of the Central Committee and the need to struggle alongside the KKE.
On Wednesday, 28 January, the opening event of the 22nd Congress of the KKE will take place in a closed stadium in Athens. The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will deliver a speech, followed by a theatrical performance of “The Manifesto” by B. Brecht.
The following day, Thursday, 29 January, the proceedings of the 22nd Congress of the KKE will continue at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Party, beginning with the presentation of the Central Committee's report to the delegates by Dimitris Koutsoumbas.
This will be followed by contributions from the delegates, discussion, and the vote on the Resolution of the 22nd Congress. The Congress will conclude on Saturday, 31 January, with the election of the members of the new Central Committee and the Central Audit Committee of the KKE.
