In less than 12 hours, builders in Ioannina responded to the latest workplace accident, which occurred on 18 May, when a builder lost his life due to inadequate safety measures.
The builders responded with a strike on 19 May and by setting up picket lines at construction sites. The city’s Builders’ Union organized a rally and marched through the streets, demanding that they never again have to mourn a colleague killed on the job.
Nikos Exarchos, a member of the executive board of the Builders’ Federation and KKE MP for Ioannina, also addressed the builders.
