A 24-hour strike was held on 10 December 2025 by workers in the construction sector, demanding collective labour agreements with wage increases, health and safety measures, etc.
Valsamos Syrigos, general secretary of the Builders’ Federation, noted among other things in his speech at the strike rally in Athens:
“We will continue and escalate our struggle! The next stop is the rally in Syntagma on 16 December, the day the war-oriented and anti-labour budget will be voted on. Yet another budget that cuts back on our needs in order to finance the businesses of the few, military equipment, and the military confrontations of those who plunder the people’s wealth.
We have a duty to continue the struggle for all the issues that affect our lives: for our daily wages, social security, health and welfare, our children’s education, and against the wars where our children will be called upon to become cannon fodder to serve the interests of the few.
We are workers and we know where our interests lie and how we will build the future we dream of for ourselves and our children! Everyone should join the struggle!"
After the rally in Kanigos Square, a march was held to the Ministry of Labour.
