On 12 March 2026, on the initiative of the KKE, a teleconference was held with Communist and Workers’ Parties of the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf region. The parties that participated in the teleconference were the Algerian Party for Democracy and Socialism (PADS), AKEL (Cyprus), the Communist Party of Greece, the Tudeh Party (Iran), the Communist Party of Israel, the Jordanian Communist Party, the Palestinian Communist Party, the Palestinian People’s Party, the Sudanese Communist Party, the Syrian Communist Party and the Communist Party of Turkey.
This particularly important initiative of the KKE provided the participating parties with the opportunity to exchange views on the extremely dangerous conditions developing for the peoples of the region. The criminal imperialist attack carried out by the US and Israel against Iran on 28 February 2026, with the support of NATO was condemned, as well as the attack on and invasion of Lebanon by the state of Israel, the murderous bombings in Beirut, and the mass displacement of the population from southern Lebanon. At the same time, solidarity was expressed with the Lebanese people and their struggle.
The delegates of the participating parties rejected the unacceptable pretexts used by the imperialist powers to attack Iran. This attack has already drawn most countries of the region, under the responsibility of their leaderships, into the flames of war in one way or another and threatens to ignite a wider conflagration, in violation of international law, which they have repeatedly flouted.
The teleconference also expressed solidarity with the peoples of Iran, Syria, and other peoples of the region. During the discussion, it was stressed that the Iranian people’s struggle for social and political rights has nothing to do with the aspirations of the US and Israel, and that only the people of each country have the right to determine the fate of their country, free from imperialist pressure or intervention.
Referring to the aims of the US and Israel in initiating this war, delegates noted that they are using military means to pursue the so-called “reshaping” of the Middle East region in order to strengthen their positions at the expense of other competing interests. The victims of imperialist plans and rivalries are the peoples, who bear the consequences of imperialist wars.
During the discussion the importance of the struggle against US–NATO bases was also highlighted, as they serve as springboards for wars against other peoples and also pose a threat to the peoples of our own countries.
More generally, condemnation was expressed of any involvement of our governments in this and other imperialist wars through the deployment of troops, ships, warplanes, military bases and facilities. The demand was also put forward for the return to our countries of all armed forces deployed abroad.

The parties participating in the teleconference once again condemned the occupation of Palestinian territories and the genocide in Gaza carried out by the Israeli war machine, the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and the annexation of its territory by Israel, and expressed their solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people. They highlighted the necessity of continuing striving for the full vindication of their struggle to obtain their own homeland.
Moreover, delegates expressed their solidarity with the working class, the people of Sudan and the Sudanese Communist Party. They are currently experiencing yet another armed intra-bourgeois conflict, involving foreign forces, which is causing continuous bloodshed.
In the contributions of the parties, the suppression of workers’ and popular struggles —which is intensifying under wartime conditions— as well as anti-communism were condemned. A resolution of solidarity with the Jordanian Communist Party was also adopted, demanding the immediate release of its cadres and members.
The threats of US imperialism against Cuba were condemned and solidarity was expressed with the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba. The parties also stressed the necessity for the immediate end of the economic strangulation imposed through the blockade and other measures, as well as the removal of Cuba from the unacceptable list of state sponsors of terrorism.
