On 28 February, mass strike rallies organized by trade unions were held in Athens and dozens of other cities across Greece to mark the third anniversary of the railway crime in Tempe, under the slogan “their profits or our lives”.

All the streets around the Greek parliament in Athens were flooded with demonstrators. In a statement to the media, the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, said:

“The real dilemma is ‘their profits or our lives’. This must guide our every thought and action from now on.

True vindication for those we have lost must be pursued to the very end —until this barbaric system is overthrown; until this decayed state and the political power that all these forces serve are overthrown.

Through a social alliance and the united struggle of the people and the youth, with a powerful KKE that will be at the forefront of this consistent struggle.”
