On 1 March 2026, thousands of workers and young people gathered outside the US Embassy in Athens to condemn the US – Israeli intervention in Iran, following a call from trade unions and mass organizations.

The thousands of protesters strongly denounced the latest imperialist attack and expressed their solidarity with the Iranian people.

The protest echoed with slogans such as: “No submission to imperialism – the only superpower is the people”, “No participation, no involvement – out with NATO and the USA”. A banner from the All Workers’ Militant Front (PAME) declared: “They are sowing destruction in the Middle East. Greece out of the slaughter”.

Among those attending the protest against the US-Israeli attack on Iran was the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas. He stated: “The recent gangster-like imperialist intervention by the US and Israel against Iran is igniting and fuelling the flames of war not only throughout the Middle East, but more broadly throughout the region and the world.

The Greek government, which counts Israel and the US as strategic allies and has filled our country with US bases of death, bears enormous and criminal responsibility for this entire situation. Our country, the US bases, and the Greek people themselves are becoming targets of retaliation —from the Souda base in Crete to Alexandroupoli, Larissa, and other US-NATO bases. The bases must be closed and the US troops must leave immediately.

Greece must withdraw from this war and cease providing assistance to criminals such as Netanyahu and Trump.”
