The KKE condemns the invasion by the Egyptian Army of areas of Sudan and the killing of Sudanese civilians, aimed at gaining control of gold mines on behalf of Egyptian capitalist interests reportedly operating in Eastern Sudan with the tolerance of the Port Sudan government.

The KKE expresses its internationalist solidarity with the working class, the people of Sudan and the Sudanese Communist Party, who are now enduring their third year of an intra-bourgeois armed conflict —in which foreign forces are also involved— that has caused immense bloodshed.

The conflict between bourgeois forces, both domestic and foreign, concerns the division of Sudan’s considerable mineral wealth, as well as its geopolitical position. The bloody developments in Sudan form part of the broader conflict in the Sahel region, in which the monopoly interests of the Euro-Atlantic powers, as well as those of China, Russia, and other regional powers, are involved.

The KKE demands the withdrawal of the Egyptian Army from Sudanese territory and expresses its solidarity with the struggle of the Sudanese people to secure their economic, social and democratic rights, and to create the conditions that will enable them to become masters in their own land.
