The banning of the Communist Party of Ukraine from the reactionary government of Ukraine with the support of the EU-USA-NATO is denounced by the Delegation of KKE in the European Parliament by a question submitted by the MEP of the Party, Kostas Papadakis, to the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, C. Ashton. Pointing the great responsibilities of the EU stresses that in a number of EU member states the Communist Parties are in illegal conditions since anticommunism is an EU´s official ideology.

The MEP´s question is the following:

"The reactionary government of Ukraine is supported politically, economically and militarily by the EU and its allies, USA and NATO, proceeded on 07/08/2014, in legal proceedings to outlaw the Communist Party of Ukraine, on the pretext of an alleged "unconstitutional action".

This undertaking of banning the Communist Party of Ukraine is related with  the murderous attack of the Ukraine government into East Ukraine and the escalation of the anti-peoples offensive on the weight of the working class and poor popular strata for the profitability of the monopoly groups, implementing the project that drew jointly the Ukrainian government with the EU, the IMF and USA.

Great are the EU´s responsibilities. To be successful, the imperialist intervention on Ukraine utilised and supported fascist organisations, ideological and political descendants of Nazism, by coup to climb to government power.

The EU´s dangerous role does not only restrict to Ukraine. EU has declared anticommunism its official ideology, spearheading the overall distortion of the historical truth, the unacceptable and unhistorical equation of fascism with communism.

In a number of EU member states the Communist Parties have been illegal, prohibiting the use of communist symbols, communist ideology and the action of the communists, the defence of socialism is prosecuted. The persecution of the Communist Parties and the action of the Communists is the other side of the coin of the escalating attack on workers and the imposition of harsh unpopular measures.

What is the position of the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs on the effort of the Ukrainian government to outlaw the Communist Party of Ukraine and to criminalise the communist ideology and the action of the communists, something that is directed against all the working people of Ukraine, democratic rights and liberties?
