The text of the Question, signed by KKE MP Thanasis Pafilis, states, among other things:
“The Greek government is deeply entangled in frontline operations and imperialist conflicts, from Ukraine and the Black Sea to Iran and the Red Sea. Its predatory alliance with the regime in Kyiv, as demonstrated by the case of the maritime drone found adrift off the coast of Lefkada carrying explosives, pose nothing but dangers for the people (…) Several days after the discovery in Lefkada of a Ukrainian maritime drone loaded with explosives, the New Democracy government, instead of providing clear answers, is displaying an unacceptable and dangerous complacency regarding this incident. (...)
The government has no right to drag the country and its people into the maelstrom of war in pursuit of the interests of capital, which seeks a share of the imperialist spoils. These dangerous developments, along with the government’s maneuvers and statements, raise numerous unanswered questions for the people.
- Did the Greek government know whether —and if so, a part of which— operational plan the kamikaze drone found in Lefkada has been deployed?
- Has it agreed to grant the reactionary government in Kyiv access to Greek territory for the conduct of military operations, and are other similar drones from Ukraine or other ‘allies’ operating in Greek territorial waters?
- What quantity of explosives was the kamikaze drone carrying, and what percentage of its total fuel capacity remained on board when it was found?
- The government spends billions of euros on procuring surveillance systems for Greek airspace and territorial waters, claiming that ‘not even a mosquito can pass without being detected’. Was the drone tracked by these Greek systems, given that it operates via two-way electronic communications?
- Is this an isolated incident, or does it mark the beginning of a new reality?
- What diplomatic steps has the Greek government taken following the discovery of the drone, now confirmed to be Ukrainian, in Greek territorial waters?
The Minister is asked: What is the government’s position on the above issues?”
