The meeting of the Working Group (WG) of the International Meetings of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP), held on Sunday 19 April in Istanbul to determine the venue and theme, and to resolve organizational issues relating to the holding of the 24th International Meeting, was successfully concluded.
The delegation of the KKE included comrades Giorgos Marinos, member of the Political Bureau of the CC of the KKE; Eliseos Vagenas, member of the CC of the KKE and Head of the International Relations Section; Aris Evangelidis, member of the CC of the KKE and the International Relations Section; and Danae Chelmi, associate of the International Relations Section of the CC of the KKE.
The delegation of the KKE welcomed and supported the intention of the Communist Party of Cuba to host the next International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties. This constitutes an important step in demonstrating the solidarity of Communist and Workers’ parties around the world with the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba, at a time when the imperialist aggression of North American imperialism against the Cuban Revolution is intensifying.
The WG decided that the 24th IMCWP will be held in Havana on 7–9 August 2026 under the theme: “Defending and honouring the legacy of the Cuban Revolution on the centenary of Fidel, deepening our solidarity with socialist Cuba; strengthening our joint actions, and uniting our forces for peace and against imperialist aggression”.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of Cuba, which will host the 24th IMCWP, has invited Communist and Workers’ parties to participate in the events marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to be held on 10–12 August.
The WG of the IMCWP adopted a joint statement of solidarity with Cuba. Furthermore, during the meeting, a resolution was adopted expressing solidarity with the peoples of Iran, Lebanon and Palestine against US and Israeli aggression.
