On Wednesday, 27 May, trade unions from Attica representing sectors with the highest rates of workplace accidents and occupational illnesses held a mass mobilization outside the Ministry of Labour, demanding: “No more workers’ blood for employers’ profits! Immediate measures for health and safety in the workplace”.

Trade union representatives stressed that workers do not need 10-hour or 13-hour working days, but rather a 7-hour workday, a 5-day working week, a total working week of 35 hours, and collective labour agreements providing for substantial wage increases and effective measures to protect their health and lives. The answer of the working class to the dilemma “their profits or our lives” is one: confrontation with the policy of profit.
