KKE:

Militant response to an anti-communist fiesta

On Saturday 23 November in the morning, a militant anti-war and anti-imperialist intervention was organized by the KKE and KNE organizations in Mandra, Attica, located about 40 kilometres outside Athens. In this small town, the Municipality of Mandra in cooperation with the Ukrainian Embassy and the Greek-Ukrainian Chamber organized an unhistorical and anti-communist fiesta under the theme "Memorial Event for the innocent victims of the genocide instigated by the Stalinist regime, HOLODOMOR 1932-1933".

The mobilization of the KKE and KNE took place a few metres from the site of this anti-Soviet event, in which the local residents did not participate. In this way, the forces of the KKE gave a militant response to the attempt to falsify history, to anti-communism, as well as to the pretexts used by the imperialists to massacre the peoples in the imperialist wars. It showed that under socialism the peoples of Russia and Ukraine lived in peace, winning great gains in terms of working rights, education, health, culture, sports, etc., because they conquered their own power, overthrowing capitalism which generates wars, poverty and uprooting.

Christos Tsokanis, MP of the Party for the West Attica constituency, attended the intervention of the KKE and KNE and gave a speech. At the same time, the attempt of the police forces to suppress and obstruct the demonstration, using tear gas and stun grenades, was faced with determination.

During the mobilization, the demonstrators chanted slogans against the imperialist war, NATO, the participation of our country in the wars, anti-communism and anti-Sovietism.

*Note: One of the mobilization banners reads: Under socialism the peoples of Russia and Ukraine lived in peace. KKE.
