NATO-US-EU strategic relations with Turkey fuel its aggressive rhetoric

In a communiqué on Erdoğan’s provocative statements at the UNGeneral Assembly, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE stressed the following:

“Erdoğan’s rant at the UN General Assembly, where he put forward the entire spectrum of the Turkish ruling class’ claims against Greece and Cyprus, cannot be interpreted either as apre-election tactic or as a product of Turkey’s alleged isolation.

It is precisely the strategic relations of NATO, the US, and the EU with Turkey —at a time of intensifying competition with Russia and attempts to wrest Turkey from Russian influence—that fuel the Turkish government’s aggressive rhetoric and corresponding actions against our country’s sovereign rights.”
