STATEMENT BY D. KOUTSOUMBAS ON THE FRENCH ELECTIONS

The regroupment of the movement in France, Greece and throughout Europe is the only way for uplift, the overthrow of the system and real progress

In a statement on the French elections, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, GS of the CC of the KKE, said the following:

"It is the same old story played out by the protagonists of the anti-popular governments of recent years, who have been condemned in the consciousness of the French people in whatever form of government they may serve the interests of capital. The only certainty is that,in the name of 'democracy' and the 'lesser evil', they will once again fuel a new vicious circle of disillusionment and conservatism.

It is no coincidence that all the bourgeois media in Europe, especially in France and Greece, provocatively and purposefully characterize the main social-democratic party ("New Popular Front") as "left", while at the same time concealing the timeless role of social democracy in the stability and defence of the barbaric and decayed system. This is a deliberate obfuscation of reality. After all, the dominant bourgeois approach to Le Pen was neither concerned with nor aimed at the substance of her political line, but at the attempts to restore a bankrupt social democracy.

The regroupment of the movement in France, Greece and throughout Europe and the strengthening of the current disputing the dominant policy is the only way to raise hope to the peoples and to really block the way for the reactionary far-right forces as another reserve of the system. It is the only way to turn the popular discontent against the anti-popular governments and the EU into a force for uplift, the overthrow of the system and real progress."
