Solidarity with Aleksandar Denic and the NCP of Yugoslavia

A delegation of the KKE, headed by Kostas Papadakis, member of the CC of the KKE and MEP, carried out an intervention at the Serbian Embassy in Athens on the morning of Tuesday 20/1. During the meeting with Branko Lazarevic , the charge d’affaires of the embassy, the delegation of the KKE handed over a letter of protest against the prosecution and persecution of the First Secretary of the Union of Young Communists of (SKOJ) and member of the Secretariat of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ), Αleksantar Denic. The cadre of the NCP of Yugoslavia, despite the fact that he was on the receiving end of a vicious assault by fascists, is provocatively being accused by the authorities that he was the aggressor. The delegation requested that the contents of the letter of protest be passed on to the Serbian government and authorities
The letter of protest as follows:
20.01.2015
To the Embassy of Serbia in Greece
The Communist Party of Greece protests strongly against the judicial process and prosecution of the first secretary of the Young Communist League of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) and member of the Secretariat of the New Communist Party of Jugoslavia (NKPJ) Aleksandar Denic scheduled for 21 January 2015 in Belgrade.
The Serbian Interior Ministry brought a criminal complaint filed against Aleksandar Denic for an alleged "attack" on two members of the fascist group Serbian action". The truth is very different, as A. Denić, along with another person, was subject to assault, insults and provocations by these two fascists and he acted in self-defence.
The prosecution of A. Denic is a political one, as at the time of this event he was a political cadre of NKPJ and SKOJ and also the first secretary of the Student Front (SF) organization that has had the most active role in the Belgrade student protests of 2014.
We urge your embassy to convey the complaint of the Communist Party of Greece to the Serbian Government and your country’s authorities, stressing that all the charges against A. Denic should be rejected, otherwise the Serbian Government will bear a serious responsibility for a political prosecution.
Yours sincerely,
International Relations Section of the CC of KKE
