The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) expresses its solidarity with the struggle of the working class, the poor farmers, the youth, and the women of Colombia against the anti-popular measures of the reactionary government of Iván Duque. The government promotes the interests of local monopolies against the Colombian people, forges alliances with the USA in the imperialist plans against other peoples in the region, and essentially cooperates with paramilitary groups that have murdered hundreds of grass-roots fighters in the past years.

The fact that the government was forced to withdraw the bill that provided for tax increases for the people under the weight of the strikes and the mass people’s demonstrations is evidence of the power of class struggle, the capability of the people to hinder the barbaric attack of the capital.

We unequivocally denounce the bourgeois state repression and violence that led to the death of dozens of demonstrators in the past days. We express our condolences to the families and friends of the victims and demand that the murderers are punished.

We particularly express our solidarity with the Colombian Communist Party, which, facing difficult circumstances, is at the forefront of the struggles to defend the life and the rights of the people. The KKE and the labour–people’s movement in our country stand by the side of the Colombian people and their just struggle; a fact that was also expressed at the strike rallies for Labour Day.
