The Press Office of the CC of the KKE hasissued the following statement on the new Israeli attacks on Lebanon:

“The KKE calls upon the people to condemn en masse the new crimes committed by the terrorist state of Israel in Lebanon, which have so far led to hundreds of dead and thousands of wounded. The attacks in Lebanon, together with the ongoing operations in Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine, represent an escalation of unpredictable dimensions of the war in the Middle East, in which the peopleswill be the victims.

The pretexts of 'self-defence', which are used to justify new crimes, have long since collapsed, revealing the plans of Israel, with the support of the USA-NATO-EU, to consolidate its imperialist domination at the expense of the peoples of the region, using all means, such as the bombing of civilians, terrorist attacks, the occupation of foreign territories and, of course, the genocide against the Palestinian people.

The New Democracy government bears enormous responsibilities, because from the very first moment it assumed the role of Israel’s advocate, giving full political and military support toits crimes. In doing so, it has dragged the country into a dangerous war in our neighbourhood that could escalate at any time. The other Euro-Atlantic parties are also responsible for whitewashing Israel’s policy, either by adopting the Israeli pretexts, by falling silent, or by keeping an equal distance and equating the perpetrator with the victim.

More than ever, we have to intensify the struggle against the crimes of the Israeli state and the US-NATO-EU policy that supports them. To express solidarity with the peoples who shed their blood because of the imperialist plans. To step up the demand for Greece’s disengagement from the imperialist war and the end of all political, economic and military cooperation with Israel”.
