THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DEMONSTRATED OUTSIDE THE EMBASSIES OF ISRAEL AND THE USA

Solidarity with the Palestinian people! No involvement in imperialist plans!

Thousands of workers that responded to the call of the Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace (EEDYE), trade unions and mass organizations sent a loud anti-imperialist message by demonstrating outside the Ministry of Defence and then marching on the Embassies of Israel and the USA.

The demonstrators, holding banners, picket signs and shouting slogans, denounced the crime of the murderous state of Israel committed with the connivance of the USA, NATO, and the EU. They sent a message of solidarity with the Palestinian people, while expressing the widespread demand to end the upgrade of the Greek–Israeli relations pursued by the ND government and initiated by the SYRIZA government. They also demanded the closure of the bases of death and no participation in the plans of the USA, NATO and the EU, which murder the peoples and abet Israeli aggression.

Lieutenant-colonel (retired) N. Papanastasis, MP of the KKE and member of the National Council of EEDYE, addressed the demonstration outside the Ministry of Defence and noted that “the new crimeby the murderous state of Israel to the detriment of the Palestinian people is a crime committed with the connivance of the USA and the EU. The Greek government and the other bourgeois parties openly support Israeli aggression. The bear responsibility and have contributed to this development”, stressing that “they put US–NATO plans first”.

D. Koutsoumbas: The government must recognize the Palestinian State

The GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, attended the demonstration and stated that “the Greek government must proceed with the recognition of the Palestinian State, based on the unanimous resolution of the Parliament in 2015”. He stressed that “We are here to express our solidarity with the Palestinian people who have been hit hard by the Israeli murderous attacks with the support of the USA, NATO, and the EU. We demand that the Greek government proceeds with the recognition of the Palestinian State, based on the unanimous resolution of the Parliament in 2015. We demand that Greece disengages from all imperialist plans that pose serious dangers for our people and our country. ”
