DIMITRIS KOUTSOUMBAS

We join our voices with the voice of the people of Palestine and the peoples of the world who demand: Free Palestine!

In a statement about the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was established by the UN in 1977, the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, notes the following:

«We join our voices with the voice of the people of Palestine, with the voices of the peoples of the whole world who demand: Stop now the genocide in the Gaza Strip, committed by the State of Israel, the war criminal Netanyahu, wanted by the International Criminal Court, with the support of the US, NATO and the EU!

Today, when the conditions of a general conflagration have been created in the Middle East, as well as in Europe, the struggle of our people to stop the involvement of our country in the wars, which is increasing with the responsibility of the New Democracy government and the support of the other Euro-Atlantic parties, is of crucial importance.

The government must withdraw immediately the Greek frigate from the Red Sea and cease all military, economic and political relations with the State of Israel. No pretext for alleged “self-defence” can be used today, when over 44.000 Palestinians have lost their lives, including over 17.000 children, and after the crimes committed by Israel in the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. No occupying army anywhere in the world has the right to “self-defence”.

The only solution is the end of the Israeli occupation and the creation of a unified, independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the 1967 borders. The unanimous decision of the Greek Parliament in 2015 on the recognition of the independent Palestinian state by our country must be implemented immediately.
